The dog produces an impression of a well-balanced dog, that is well muscled, has got a broad skull, strong jaws, deep and wide chest and short dense coat. The color of the coat ranges from dead grass to brown shades. The eyes are yellowish or amber. The chesapeake bay retriever puppy will often be pictured with other puppies of it's litter.
